UNIFI was founded in New York City in 1999 as one of the early pioneers of Voice over IP. From the beginning, we made a deliberate choice: to go where connectivity is hardest to deliver.
Today, UNIFI is a licensed international carrier connecting more than 450 communication providers across 70+ countries. But our numbers only tell part of the story.
Our specialty is the world's most complex telecommunications environments: frontier markets, post-conflict economies, sanctioned and heavily regulated jurisdictions, and geographies where infrastructure, politics, and compliance intersect in ways most carriers avoid. Operating in these markets demands more than network engineering. It requires deep regulatory expertise, licensed and compliant frameworks, trusted government relationships on multiple sides of a route, and the patience to build where others see only risk.
Over 25 years, we have developed exactly that: the ability to structure, license, finance, and operate connectivity projects in places where the rules are unwritten, the terrain is difficult, and the stakes for local communities are highest. From our headquarters at One World Trade Center, we build interconnections, submarine cable systems, and carrier partnerships that bring underserved regions into the global network, always lawfully, transparently, and in alignment with trusted infrastructure standards.
We measure success by the trust of those who depend on us: the operators who ride our network, the governments who license our projects, and the communities that come online because someone was willing to do the hard work. Looking ahead, the markets we serve are becoming the world's most strategic. As AI moves to the edge, the corridors we have spent decades building- secure, low-latency, sovereignty-compliant routes through the world's geographic pinch points- are becoming the critical infrastructure of the intelligent era. We didn't choose the easy markets. We chose the ones that matter. Connecting Ai everywhere, for a future that is always on.

Integrity Without Exception
We operate in some of the world's most sensitive jurisdictions, which means we hold ourselves to the strictest standards, not the loosest ones available. Every project we undertake is fully licensed, transparently structured, and built on lawful frameworks in every market we serve. We would rather walk away from an opportunity than compromise how we do business. In an era when Ai infrastructure decisions carry national consequences, integrity isn't a value we promote. It's the asset our entire enterprise is built on.
Trusted Infrastructure, By Design
UNIFI builds and operates under the U.S. Clean Network framework. Every cable system, landing station, and interconnection we deliver is free of high-risk vendors and aligned with the security standards of the United States and its allies. In an era when Ai workloads are becoming the world's most sensitive traffic, the provenance of digital infrastructure is a matter of national security. We give governments and operators a choice they can defend: connectivity that is secure, sovereign, and trusted end-to-end. For the strategic corridors that will carry the Ai economy, this isn't a compliance checkbox. It's the reason partners choose us.
Digital Ai Corridors
The global internet is only as strong as its weakest routes. We develop Digital Ai Corridors through the world's geographic pinch points, new subsea and terrestrial paths that add diversity, redundancy, and resilience where the internet needs it most. As Ai moves to the edge, these corridors are becoming the backbone of the intelligent era: secure, low-latency, sovereignty-compliant routes built to carry Ai inference from the data center to the edge, wherever the edge may be. We are not chasing the next technology cycle. We are building the infrastructure Ai will run on.
Trust Earned Over Decades
Relationships in frontier markets aren't won with contracts; they're earned through years of showing up, keeping commitments, and delivering when it's difficult. Many of our operator and government relationships span decades. As nations now choose who they will trust to carry their Ai traffic and host their intelligent infrastructure, those decades matter. We treat every partnership as one we intend to keep for the next twenty-five years, because that's how we've built the ones we have.
Excellence in Hard Places
Anyone can perform where conditions are ideal. Our standard is to deliver Ai-ready, carrier-grade reliability where power grids fail, regulations shift, and logistics break down. Ai workloads are unforgiving: they demand always-on networks, deterministic latency, and infrastructure that performs in the hardest environments on earth. That demands engineering discipline, redundancy by design, and people who solve problems rather than escalate them.
Building What Lasts, Running What We Build
We build the infrastructure, but we don't stop there. UNIFI develops, owns, manages, and operates the systems we deliver, and we run the services that live on top of them: carrier-grade voice and data, intelligent network platforms, and Ai-powered capabilities like real-time fraud detection that keep global traffic clean and secure. From the cable on the seabed to the Ai in the network, we stay accountable for performance at every layer, year after year. We think in decades, not quarters. What we build, what we run, and what we deliver are designed to outlast market cycles and political moments, and to serve the customers and communities that depend on them long into the intelligent era.

UNIFI was founded in 1999 by Adrian Shatku, one of the early pioneers of Voice over IP, on a conviction that has guided the company for more than 25 years: the hardest markets to connect are the ones most worth connecting.
Under Adrian's leadership, UNIFI has grown from a New York startup into one of the largest independent wholesale carriers in the world by network reach, interconnecting more than 450 operators across 70+ countries, with operations spanning the Eastern Mediterranean, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. UNIFI group companies have ranked among TeleGeography's top 15 global wholesale voice carriers. Adrian has spent his career at the intersection of telecommunications, international markets, and government relations, structuring and delivering projects in jurisdictions where technology, regulation, and geopolitics converge. He is an alumnus of Harvard Business School and MIT Sloan.
That expertise runs through the entire organization. Our team operates across continents, languages, and legal systems, combining carrier-grade engineering with the regulatory, diplomatic, and commercial skill that complex markets demand. We have negotiated with governments, partnered with national operators, and delivered infrastructure in environments where most companies never attempt to operate. That depth is not something that can be hired quickly or copied easily. It is earned, project by project, over decades.
Today, that same expertise is focused on the defining challenge of the next era: building and running the trusted infrastructure of the Ai economy. From Digital Ai Corridors through the world's strategic pinch points to Ai-powered platforms operating inside our own network, we are applying 25 years of hard-market experience to the moment when connectivity matters most.
The future of telecommunications is being shaped today, and we know exactly where we stand in it. By connecting Ai everywhere, we are building the foundation for a smarter, more connected world.
